SC Johnson Spring Cleaning Bzz Campaign

I recently received my BzzKit for the new SC Johnson Spring Cleaning Bzz campaign. I was excited to get it because it had a number of cleaning items in it for me to try!
The kit included:
  • A number of coupon booklets for SC Johnson products
  • Pledge Furniture Spray
  • Glade Limited Edition Candle
  • Glade Plug-in Refill
  • Scrubbing Bubbles Mega Shower Foamer
  • Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel Kit
Since receiving the BzzKit I have tried all the items.

The Pledge Furniture Spray worked great, it got my home dusted and smells great. The only down side was that it was an aerosol, I prefer wet wipes, but it worked great when used with paper towels.

The Limited Edition Candle smells really nice and I have used it 3 times and it isn't even half gone. I had friends over the other day when I used it and they commented that my house smelled great, so the product definitely does its job!

The Glad Plugin Refill didn't include the holder, which luckily I had. However, I'm not the biggest fan of the plugin devices. We live in an older apt and have very few plugins that my children don't have access to, so for our family they don't work very well. I also wasn't too enthusiastic about the scent, it was a little too strong for my tastes.

The Mega Shower Foam works well, it has allowed me to cut down on the number of times per week that I have to deep clean my shower, which I appreciate. The only down side is that the scent is really strong and can be smelled all over my house when it's sprayed.

The Toilet Cleaning Gel Kit I did not like at all. I had tried it once before and wasn't a fan, but I decided to give it one more shot with the BzzCampaign. However, I was not impressed once again. The smell is way too strong, my husband complained the whole week that it lasted in the toilet that it made the bathroom stink. My children kept sticking their hands in the toilet trying to play with the 'snot gel' as they liked to call it, which mommy didn't appreciate. All in all I will stick with my bleach to clean my toilet, it smells a lot better!

For the most part I was impressed with most of the items from the SC Johnson BzzKit and look forward to trying their new products in the future!

I recently registered for a new website, I wasn't sure if it would find it to be too run of the mill, like most shopping sites, or something new and exciting. After registering and using it for a couple of weeks, I was very happy to find that the site was very user friendly, with tons of graphics, top picks and photos of trends and runway shows. By registering you get exclusive member only deals, like this weeks 25% off select jewelry and beauty items, so check it out for yourselves and hopefully everyone will like it like I did!

Martha Stewart Living Oven Cleaning Suggestions

I got my newest edition of Martha Stewart Living the other day and was very interested in the article on oven cleaning using baking soda. I gave it a shot thinking it would be a good, less fume producing way to clean my oven. So I mixed together the 3/4 cup Baking Soda and 1/4 cup warm water and applied the mixture to my dirty oven.

I followed the instructions exactly and when I came back the next morning to scrap off the baking soda I was excited to see the results. My oven was made in probably about 1920 and is gas, so it can get dirty quick. I normally use generic oven cleaner, which does a great job, I just hate inhaling the fumes and having to rinse 3 or 4 times.  The baking soda mixture did an okay job getting the grease off. My oven is cleaner than it was previously, but not as clean as if I had used oven cleaner. If I had applied the Baking Soda paste another time, it might be as clean as using oven cleaner. It just seems a little too time consuming of a cleaning task for my taste, but I do like that it's healthier than traditional cleaning agents.

The instructions on the Martha Stewart website use the addition of a 1/4 cup of Salt, which might work better, I haven't tried that method. For the detailed instructions visit Oven Cleaning Method.

Off week for Kroger

Im not excited by the sales for this week. There are only a few things that I will be buying, nothing like last weeks tuna, frozen food greatness. Kroger is supposed to be changing its computer system in the next couple of months to not allow the stacking of paper and e coupons; wont change my shopping because I already stopped doing it, but I know of a number of coupon binder users at my stores that wont be happy. Better for me though if they stop shelf clearing!!!

March 2, 2011

I have a rant against something that interferes with my money saving ability. There are several people in my area that have 12 or more CVS cards per household and shelf clear the weekly deals using $/$$ coupons that they got off of message boards, not in their emails. They claim that since CVS has no formal written policy against multiple cards, that they are allowed to do this (I have never found anything on their webpage saying one way or the other, boo CVS!). The $/$$ coupons are another sore point, I only get them once in a blue moon in my email from CVS, however, every week they are posted on message boards that people have re-posted. They beep at the register, but many cashiers push them through. Why cant CVS just switch to getting the $/$$ coupons out of the CRT machine instead of email, therefore eliminating the fraud!!!!

Saved 101 percent on Groceries!!

It was a good frugal weekend, I saved 101 percent on one of my grocery transactions and 91 percent on my other! Granted, my freezer is now completely full of pizza and pizza rolls, but luckily my kids have never ending stomachs, as indicated by the fact that they have already eaten two boxes.
